  Penggunaan tenaga diperbaharui bermula dengan pendidikan - SEDA Malaysia

GEORGE TOWN, 8 Nov (Bernama) -- Pihak Berkuasa Pembangunan Tenaga Lestari (SEDA) Malaysia menegaskan pendidikan tentang tenaga diperbaharui (RE) untuk rakyat Malaysia perlu dijadikan sebagai langkah pertama ke arah penggunaan tenaga lestari di negara ini.

Pemangku Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif SEDA Malaysia Dr Wei-Nee Chen berkata walaupun kesedaran dan pengetahuan tentang  RE di Malaysia telah meningkat sejak beberapa tahun ini, ia masih berlum dimanfaatkan sepenuhnya untuk tujuan lain.

Beliau memetik laporan penyelidikan Panel Antara Kerajaan tentang Perubahan Iklim (IPCC) Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu yang memberi amaran bahawa manusia hanya mempunyai 12 tahun untuk mengehadkan bencana perubahan iklim.

“Isu perubahan iklim dan keselamatan tenaga bukan hanya terletak pada kerajaan, tetapi orang ramai juga berpeluang untuk turut terbabit dalam menyelamatkan alam sekitar kita.

“Oleh itu, kami (SEDA Malaysia) menjalin kerjasama dengan pemain industri dan NGO untuk menyebarluaskan pengetahuan  RE kepada orang ramai dan menerima pakainya, dengan harapan orang ramai turut terbabit sama,” katanya dalam sidang media, di sini, hari ini.

Terdahulu,  Chen dan Ahli Lembaga SEDA Tan Sri Ahmad Zaidee Laidin menyaksikan majlis menandatangani Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) antara  Lembaga Teknologis Malaysia (MBOT) dan Persatuan Industri Fotovolta Malaysia (MPIA), yang diwakili Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif MBOT Mohd Nazrol Marzuke dan Presiden MPIA Chin Soo Mau.

Menerusi  MoU itu, MBOT akan menyediakan program pengiktirafan kepada ahli MPIA yang berkelayakan untuk menjadi Teknologis Profesional bertauliah, dalam bidang kepakaran sistem fotovolta (PV).

Sementara itu,  Chen turut memperkenalkan sistem Net Energy Metering (NEM) yang dinaik taraf untuk menggalakkan pelanggan Tenaga National Berhad (TNB) dan Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) menggunakan sistem solar PV dalam sektor domestik, komersial dan industri di seluruh Malaysia.

Beliau menjelaskan bil elektrik bulanan di bawah sistem NEM akan dikira berdasarkan penggunaan bersih elektrik  (TNB atau SESB) ditolak penjanaan tenaga daripada sistem solar PV, didarap dengan tarif elektrik runcit.

“Sistem NEM baharu ini bukan sahaja menyumbang ke arah mencapai sasaran Tenaga Diperbaharui Malaysia sebanyak dua peratus sehingga 20 peratus menjelang tahun 2025, tetapi bil elektrik  pelanggan TNB dan SESB juga lebih murah jika memasang sistem solar PV,” katanya dan menurutnya sistem NEM baharu ini akan berkuat kuasa Januari tahun depan.

SEDA Malaysia ialah sebuah badan statutori yang melapor kepada  Kementerian Tenaga, Sains, Teknologi, Alam Sekitar dan Perubahan Iklim dan ditubuhkan sejak September 2011 di bawah Akta SEDA  2011 (Act 726) dengan objektif untuk memacu agenda tenaga diperbaharui yang efisien di negara ini.
