KUALA LUMPUR, 17 Mei (Bernama) -- Beberapa barangan peribadi seperti beg tangan, pakaian serta hadiah dirampas dari kediaman bekas Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak di Jalan Langgak Duta, Taman Duta di sini awal hari ini.

Peguam Najib, Datuk Harpal Singh Grewal ketika ditemui sejurus keluar dari rumah itu pada kira-kira 4.20 pagi tadi berkata, bagaimanapun tiada sebarang dokumen diambil.

Beliau berkata pihaknya percaya barangan itu diambil bagi tujuan siasatan mengikut Akta Pencegahan Pengubahan Wang Haram dan Pencegahan Pembiayaan Keganasan 2001.



"Kami percaya (pencarian) dibuat mengikut akta pengubahan wang," katanya, sambil menambah Najib dan anggota keluarga beliau memberi kerjasama sepanjang proses pencarian dilaksanakan dan tiada tangkapan dibuat.

Setakat 8 pagi ini, anggota polis masih berada di lokasi.

Lebih 10 kenderaan polis termasuk trak tiba di kediaman Najib pada kira-kira 10.15 malam tadi selepas beliau pulang daripada menunaikan solat tarawih di Masjid Kampung Baru.

Harpal berkata sebuah lagi kediaman peribadi Najib iaitu apartmen mewah di Jalan Raja Chulan turut menjadi lokasi carian polis.

Polis dilihat membawa keluar beberapa barangan dan kotak yang tidak diketahui kandungannya dalam operasi yang berakhir sekitar 3 pagi.

Najib dan isteri Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor telah disenaraihitam oleh Jabatan Imigresen daripada meninggalkan negara ini.

Selasa lepas, Perdana Menteri Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad berkata beliau menjangka pertuduhan akan dikenakan terhadap Najib susulan penyiasatan terhadap dakwaan bahawa bekas perdana menteri itu menyeleweng beratus juta dolar Amerika daripada dana 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Pakatan Harapan yang dipengerusikan Dr Mahathir menumbangkan kerajaan Barisan Nasional pimpinan Najib pada pilihan raya umum 9 Mei lepas.
