Public-Private Partnerships Important To Create Progressive Development Of Industries - Mustapa

Friday, 13 October 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Public and private sector collaborations are important in creating a sustainable and progressive development of industries in Malaysia, said International Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

The partnerships were vital in order to bring the industries forward, he said.

"We seek to work together as we continue to position the country as the best place to invest," he said at the networking lunch co-organised by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and CIMB Group, today.

Mustapa also discussed the opportunities and addressed the challenges of doing business in Malaysia.

MIDA has partnered with CIMB Group to organise a networking lunch with key personnel from leading foreign multinationals, chambers of commerce and local businesses.

In a joint statement today, MIDA said the networking lunch was attended by 38 representatives from businesses and chambers of commerce.

Mustapa further added that the ministry and MIDA together with other agencies were working hard to develop local industry players to become global champions.

"We want Malaysia to be your gateway into the region, providing companies with immediate access to a wide and dynamic market," he added.

Malaysia has been ranked 25th out of 138 economies by the Global Competitiveness Report 2016-2017, issued by the World Economic Forum.

This has placed the country among the world's top 20 per cent of the most competitive economies, and also the highest ranked among developing Asian countries.
