Rod Manikam - The Man Behind 'Lurking Woods'

By Salbiah Said

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The trophy for Best Film at Hollywood's annual Academy Awards doesn't go to the winning movie's director or to its screen stars.

Rather, it's presented to the producers. What does a producer do, exactly? "Everything...from head to tail. What we do is we start pre-production, get an idea, get the story out, work on the story, work out the budget and get investors," says Penang-born Rod Manikam, who owns Australian-based Rodman Pictures Pty Ltd.

"He makes sure everything is run smoothly, from food, catering to camera crew, makeup artiste, sound, post production and not forgetting the marketing after that," he told Bernama Lifestyle and Youth (LnY) in an exclusive interview recently.

Wajah-Wajah Ceria Sambut Kehadiran Siaran Digital

Rookie Reporter's Baptism Of Fire At The Erawan Shrine

Yasmin Abdul Manan

BANGKOK (Bernama) -- It was probably a memorable start in journalism for me, as just three months after being recruited by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) I was standing at the bloodied scene on Bangkok's famous landmark, the Erawan Shrine.

It was by coincidence that Bernama decided to nominate me to join the ASEAN Familiarisation Trip to Bangkok from 16-22 Aug.

I could still recall vividly the sight that greeted me when I landed in Bangkok, the mammoth Suvarnabhumi International Airport and the smiling faces of the staff manning the counters.

NEW DELHI (Bernama) -- Tuan nak saya datang pukul berapa esok?
